I just got this camera and was eager to install it! but, luckily I decided to test it out before I installed it. On my 38" LCD tv, it looked adequate, I didn't have any non HD camera to compare it to, but I could see enough details. However, I soon realized that it wasn't actually 170 degree horizontal viewing angle! Their 170 degree was measured diagonally. Measuring it, I'd say it is between 120-130 degrees (horizontal) only! I didn't bother to measure it's vertical angle. This didn't seem right since other cameras are advertised with the important angle, the horizontal angle of view.
